World Bank Outlines Green Growth Strategy for China
20 March 2011: Speaking at the China Development Forum held in Beijing, China, Sri Mulyani Indrawati, World Bank Managing Director, analyzed China's macroconomic situation, highlighting that the country is "taking on issues of global importance such as climate change."
He noted that China is working in the G20 to establish a new basis for sustainable, environmentally-friendly economic growth and is increasingly active in support of partner countries in the developing world, such as in Africa. He stressed the need for China's growth and development to be "rebased on green environmental strategies" and to find a new balance between export-led and domestically-driven growth.
