UNEP Issues Report on Marrakech Process for CSD 19
April 2011: The UN Environment Programme (UNEP) has released a report titled "The Marrakech Process Progress Report: Paving the Way for Sustainable Consumption and Production" (SCP).
The report offers insights into the diverse activities undertaken by the Marrakech Process. According to the report, the Process has provided effective tools and capacity building activities that could be built into the 10-Year Framework of Programmes on SCP (10YFP).
In addition to the activities of the Marrakech Process over the last eight years, the report also presents three groupings of outcomes: the work of the seven Marrakech Task Forces; the activities undertaken at the regional level; and actions at the national and local levels. The report notes highlights and lessons learned, providing details of over 30 examples of innovative policies, partnerships and capacity building activities promoting the shift to SCP, from local to global levels.
The 10YFP will be negotiated at the upcoming 19th Session of the UN Commission on Sustainable Development (CSD 19). [Publication: The Marrakech Process Progress Report: Paving the Way for Sustainable Consumption and Production]
