UNDP Video Calls for Inclusive Process on Post-2015 Agenda

The World We Want26 June 2013: The UN Development Group (UNDG) has released a video highlighting the UN's efforts around the world to engage people in contributing their priorities to the post-2015 development agenda.

The video, titled “Global conversation on the Post-2015 sustainable development agenda,” was released on 26 June 2013. It features footage of the UNDG-led national consultations that took place in May 2013 in Rwanda, as an example of the national process that it says has been organized in 87 countries. The video also shows people around the world participating in the MY World survey through printed ballot, and voicing their views through national consultations, town-hall style discussions and other public meetings, as well as online and via text message.

In an interview in the video, UN Secretary-General Ban Ki-moon calls for a push to finish the Millennium Development Goals (MDGs) as well as tackle new development challenges. He says, “I want this to be the most inclusive development process the world has ever known.” Ban concludes noting that the essence of sustainable development is: "to empower people and build better lives for all while protecting our planet." [Video] [Publication: The Global Conversation Begins: Emerging Views for a New Development Agenda] [World We Want 2015/MY World Website] [UNDP Press Release]
