UN-Energy Launches New Website and Knowledge Network
February 2011: UN-Energy has launched the UN-Energy Knowledge Network to act as a gateway for information exchange among actors and programmes within the UN system.
UN-Energy is a mechanism to promote coherence within the UN family of organizations in the energy field and to increase collective engagement between the UN and other key external stakeholders. Its secretariat is housed by the UN Department of Economic and Social Affairs (UN DESA).
The UN-Energy Knowledge Network focuses on three thematic clusters, namely energy efficiency, renewable energy and access to energy. It aims to enable a common "UN voice" on energy issues, currently spread across 20 UN Agencies with energy-related projects and programmes. The network provides access to the full text of energy publications of all member Agencies. It also expects to include an interactive map featuring UN energy-related projects worldwide, as well as a newsletter. [UN-Energy Knowledge Network Website]
