Stockholm Convention Secretariat Requests Comments on Risk Management Evaluation of HBCD
May 2011: The Stockholm Convention Secretariat is inviting comments from parties and observers on the draft Risk Management Evaluation (RME) of hexabromocyclododecane (HBCD).
The Persistent Organic Pollutant Review Committee (POPRC) examined the draft risk profile for HBCD in October 2010, and decided that HBCD is likely, as a result of its long-range environmental transport, to lead to significant adverse human health and/or environmental effects such that global action is warranted and that it should proceed with the development of a RME.
Comments on the RME should be submitted to the Secretariat by 30 May 2011. [Stockholm Convention website]
