Green Growth Best Practice Initiative Launched

10 October 2012: The Green Growth Best Practice initiative (GGBP) has been launched, with support from the European Climate Foundation, the Climate Development and Knowledge Network (CDKN), the Global Green Growth Institute (GGGI), and the German International Climate Initiative, and in close partnership with many other organizations. This initiative will seek to strengthen the quality of green growth planning and implementation through analysis, documentation, and peer to peer learning on best practices.

The GGBP project was formally launched on 10 October 2012. It will seek to engage leading experts from developed and developing countries and a broad community of practitioners, policy makers, academics, and private sector stakeholders in conducting an assessment of green growth best practice. The aim is to identify the approaches that work well and the particular circumstances in which they work well. The initiative will produce comprehensive reports, a "living handbook" to document and share experiences and lessons, technical resources and training materials, and workshops and forums to foster peer learning and innovation.

A green growth best practices assessment report is expected to be completed by November 2013. The project team includes international experts from Ecofys, Energy Research Center of the Netherlands, European Climate Foundation, GGGI, Joint Implementation Network, and the US National Renewable Energy Laboratory. GGBP is an affiliated program with the Green Growth Knowledge Platform, a joint effort of GGGI, the OECD, the UN Environment Programme (UNEP), and the World Bank.
