FAO-ILC Project Provides Access to Land Governance Data
27 June 2012: The Food and Agriculture Organization of the UN (FAO) and the International Land Coalition (ILC) have announced an agreement to provide the FAO's database of treaties, laws and regulations governing food, agriculture and renewable resources, and the FAO Document Repository, on the Land Portal Website.
The Land Portal is a global internet reference point for information on land governance. The information will be made available on country pages within the Land Portal. The FAO notes that the availability of information is an important step in facilitating the operationalization of the Voluntary Guidelines on the Responsible Governance of Tenure. This is the first step for the Land Portal which will be integrating information from World Bank database on land, as well as from the Organisation for Economic Co-operation and Development (OECD) Social Institutions and Gender Index, and databases from the International Food Policy Research Institute (IFPRI).
