DESA News Announces Release of Second UNTT Report

March 2013: The latest issue of the newsletter of the UN Department of Economic and Social Affairs (DESA) highlights the forthcoming second report of the UN System Task Team (UNTT) on the Post-2015 Development Agenda. This report, to be published on 6 March, contains recommendations on a global partnership for development in the post-2015 era.

According to the newsletter, the UNTT report, titled “Toward a renewed global partnership for development,” assesses the eighth Millennium Development Goal (MDG 8) on global partnership for development, reviews lessons learned, and suggestions alternative formats and “a robust accountability mechanism for renewed global partnership.” 

The newsletter notes that the issue of partnership will be the focus of the upcoming meeting of the UN High-level Panel on the Post-2015 Development Agenda (HLP), taking place in Bali, Indonesia, from 25-27 March 2013.

In addition, this issue of DESA News highlights: the upcoming expert consultation on knowledge and capacity needs for sustainable development in the post-Rio+20 era, in Incheon, Republic of Korea, and preceding Steering Committee meeting of the UN Office for Sustainable Development (UNOSD); the ongoing e-discussion on “Building the Future We Want with Science, Technology and Innovation (STI) and Culture” as part of the preparatory process for the UN Economic and Social Council (ECOSOC) 2013 Annual Ministerial Review (AMR), and four regional consultations on the same theme, convening in Africa, West Asia, Asia and the Pacific, Latin America, and Europe; and the 15th annual meeting of the UN Committee for Development Policy (CDP), which will address the end of the MDGs period and the UN development strategy for the post-2015 era.
