Online Discussion on Disability in Post-2015 Development Agenda

In preparation for the UN High-Level Meeting on Disability and Development on 23 September 2013, an online consultation on disability is taking place to address: challenges to implementing disability programmes and policies; approaches that have been successful in the past; recommendations for action; and stakeholder roles. The UN Department of Economic and Social Affairs (DESA) and the UN Children's Fund (UNICEF) are organizing the discussion.

E-discussion on Integrating Energy into Post-2015 Development Framework

An e-discussion on how to effectively integrate energy issues into the post-2015 development framework is taking place on the World We Want 2015 platform, from 11-22 March. Topics include the global goals, targets and indicators needed to ensure integration of energy into the post-2015 agenda, and how to ensure effective implementation. Participants are invited to comment, discuss and debate key questions on this topic through the online platform. This e-discussion is one of four online consultations that are part of the Global Thematic Consultation on Energy, which aims to build consensus on a set of global objectives and priorities for energy within the post-2015 development agenda. This consultation is co-led by UN-Energy and the UN Secretary-General's Sustainable Energy For All Initiative (SE4ALL) and supported by the Governments of Mexico and Norway.

Beyond the Millennium Development Goals: Shaping the Post-2015 Development Agenda

The UN Sustainable Development Solutions Network (SDSN), Institut du Développement Durable et des Relations Internationales (IDDRI) and the Paris School of International Affairs (PSIA) are hosting this panel event on how to shape the post-2015 development agenda. The panel will present the SDSN, and address several key issues, including: achievements of and lessons learned from the Millennium Development Goals (MDGs); future global sustainable development challenges and how the post-2015 agenda can address them; problem solving for development; and France's contributions to the process. Panelists include Pascal Canfin, French Deputy Ministry for Development; Jeffrey Sachs, SDSN Director; Laurence Tubiana, IDDRI founder and director and co-chair of the SDSN Leadership Council; and Ghassan Slameh, PSIA Director.

High-Level Consultation on Education

As part of the Post-2015 Development Agenda Global Thematic Consultations, this High-Level Leadership Meeting will bring together Member States, non-governmental organizations and civil society to discuss and define agenda recommendations on education for the Post-2015 Development Framework. It is scheduled to take place from 18-19 March in Dakar, Senegal. This consultation is co-led by UNICEF and UNESCO, and co-hosted by the Governments of Senegal and Canada.

Leadership Meeting on Environmental Sustainability in Post-2015 Development Agenda

As part of the 11 Global Thematic Consultations on the Post-2015 Development Agenda, this High-Level Meeting will bring together NGOs, the sponsoring governments, and participants from the UN, among others, to discuss and define recommendations on environmental sustainability in a future framework. This consultation is being co-led by the UN Development Programme (UNDP) and the UN Environmental Programme (UNEP), with support from the Governments of France and Costa Rica.

Fourth Regional 3R Forum in Asia

This meeting is co-organized by the Ministry of Natural Resources and Environment of Viet Nam, the Ministry of the Environment of Japan, and the UN Centre for Regional Development, under the theme of "3Rs in the Context of Rio+20 Outcome - The Future We Want". The meeting is expected to address, among other matters: 3Rs (reduce, reuse, and recycle) and resource efficiency measures towards achieving the outcome of the UN Conference on Sustainable Development (UNCSD, or Rio+20); new and emerging waste issues in terms of policy, institutional, and technological considerations; 3R infrastructures towards resource efficient and zero waste society; 3Rs as the basis for sustainable waste management in small island developing States (SIDS), and multi‐stakeholders partnerships in advancing 3Rs and resource efficiency; and performance indicators in 3Rs and resource efficiency.

Clean Cooking Forum 2013

The goal of the Clean Cooking Forum is to promote a market-based approach to the global adoption of clean cooking solutions, and to continue to drive innovations in research, market development, standards and testing, project finance, and policy development. It is organized by the Global Alliance for Clean Cookstoves. The 2013 event will focus on the theme "Igniting Change, Fueling Markets and Sparking Adoption."
