Event: Fourth Meeting of the Consultative Process on Financing Options for Chemicals and Wastes [viewed]

This meeting will continue the consideration of the need for mainstreaming of sound management of chemicals and hazardous wastes. It will also continue consideration of: industry involvement, including public-private partnerships and the use of economic instruments at the national and international levels; a new trust fund similar to the Multilateral Fund; and establishing safe chemicals and wastes management as a new focal area, expanding the existing persistent organic pollutants focal area under Global Environment Facility (GEF) or establishing a new trust fund under GEF.

Rotterdam Convention Chemical Review Committee Recommends Listing of Three Chemicals [viewed]

1 April 2011: The Rotterdam Convention Chemical Review Committee (CRC) convened for its seventh meeting from 28 March-1 April, in Rome, Italy. The CRC recommended that two pesticides, endosulfan and azinphos methyl, and one severely hazardous pesticide formulation (SPHF), Gramoxone Super, be included in the Rotterdam Convention's Prior Informed Consent (PIC) procedure.

Joint Executive Secretary of Basel, Stockholm and Rotterdam Conventions Takes Office [viewed]
